As summer temperatures continue to challenge emergency services across Spain, Avincis has introduced two new helicopters to its Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) operation in Extremadura, replacing the AW109E aircraft currently in service.

Designed to maintain operational capability in temperatures above 40°C, the new aircraft are tailored to the demanding conditions experienced across the region during the summer months, helping ensure HEMS services can continue operating reliably when temperatures reach their highest.

Based at Malpartida de Cáceres and Don Benito, the helicopters support emergency medical operations across the region, enabling medical teams to reach incidents quickly and transport patients when required. Missions include responses to traffic accidents, cardiac emergencies and other life-threatening situations.

Operating in extreme heat can present additional challenges for aircraft performance, making the ability to maintain operational readiness in high temperatures particularly important for emergency aviation.

With aircraft capability tailored to the local operating environment, Avincis is helping ensure reliable emergency medical support across Extremadura — even when temperatures exceed 40°C.
